The National Wool Museum, Wales
For National Museums and Galleries of Wales

The Brief:

  • New interpretation of the processes of wool production and the communities of the Teifi Valley
  • Encourage interaction with the displays and the museum guides
  • Provide interactive family trails to guide the visitor around the Grade I listed buildings, machinery and tell the story of the impact that Welsh Wool had on the world

Our Solutions:

  • The new, bilingual displays at the Woollen Museum combine a range of mixed media and traditional techniques to highlight the museum’s collections and people stories
  • The use of archive photographs taken within the mill buildings brings the human aspects of the textile industry to life through graphic imagery, banners and touch screen videos
  • New exhibition works in harmony with original machinery to ensure that access was enhanced whilst authentic production processes were illustrated
  • An integrated family trail interprets key aspects of the stories in an accessible and entertaining way, providing the visitor with a lasting souvenir of their visit
