PLB : How the Initiative works 2 - Creative design and consultancy for cultural and natural heritage

How the Initiative works - Part 2

Establishing the sustainable vision for the project is a collective responsibility and gives a clear steer as to what is important in relation to the balance of sustainability for each client and every project.

The designs are also assessed at key design stages, against contribution to the project vision and against a set of benchmarking criteria which includes consideration of:

  • Materials
  • Travel and transportation
  • Running costs and energy efficiency
  • Durability, flexibility and fit for purpose
  • Reuse and recycling

The scoring flags up opportunities where sustainability could be improved, enabling design decisions to be made based on a balance of the key factors – environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability. This statement and our Environmental Policy define PLB’s approach to sustainability throughout our working processes.
