A Life in Pattern
Orla Kiely is one of the most influential designers of a generation and this was highly evident when PLB visited the current exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum due to the vast number of attendees from all over the world. The exhibition is housed over both floors of the museum and moves between her influences behind the creation of the iconic patterns to designing fashion and products for a global market.
Jamie McCall, Creative Director says “It is great to see such a varied collection of Orla Kiely clothes and products in one place. The oversized hanging garments had a dramatic impact within the narrative of the exhibition.”
PLB has worked displaying fashion and textiles for ‘Changing the body’ at York Castle Museum. Using sensitive display techniques for historic materials, PLB installed a fashion catwalk and adapted large scale showcases to explore the impact of society on body image and fashion styles from the industrial revolution and into the twentieth century.
