A Room for Remembrance
In collaboration with trusted build partners, we undertook the replacement of an existing structure within the Tank Museum at Bovington. Our goal was to design a space for reflection and remembrance for the RAC Memorial Trust.
Drawing inspiration from the architectural simplicity of a military Adrian Hut, PLB crafted a poignant and respectful memorial using light, projection, and audiovisual elements. This design pays homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
At the heart of the memorial, a custom-built display holds the four Books of Remembrance, surrounded by a striking projection of falling poppies. Additional displays and audiovisual features share heartfelt testimonials from families and provide personal stories of the fallen. These elements are complemented by an in-depth exploration of the RAC Memorial Trust’s ongoing work.
Creating a place of peace
Our work on this prestigious project encompassed:
- Interpretive Planning: Developing themes, messages, and emotionally sensitive stories that the RAC Memorial Trust wanted to share with visitors.
- Exhibition Design: Creating a space that not only conveys these stories but also serves as a serene area for reflection.
- Graphic Design: Uniting visual elements with historical imagery and transcripts to bring the stories to life.
- Production, Installation and Contractor Management: Overseeing the entire process from concept to completion.
"PLB went above and beyond to interpret our brief into an innovative solution that surpassed our expectations. PLB can be very proud of their work."
John Colton, Chairman of the RAC Memorial Trust
