An 11,000 year old story brought to life
PLB Projects played a pivotal role in the design and delivery of the latest exhibition ‘Star Carr: Life after the ice’ at the Yorkshire Museum, helping to tell the story of what human life was like 11,000 years ago at one the most famous Mesolithic sites in the world.
Working alongside project partner, Workhaus Projects and with the team at York Museums Trust, PLB brought the ancient story of Star Carr to life through innovative design and engaging interpretation. The cohesive narrative seamlessly integrated artifacts, interactive displays and multimedia elements, providing visitors with a sense of life at the prehistoric site.
Creating a sense of place
Our work on this project included:
- Exhibition Identity & marketing collateral
- Creative scheme design and visitor orientation
- 2D & 3D Design
- Production & sub-contractor management
- Installation & site supervision
To emphasise the site’s importance, the ambience of the ancient landscape was replicated through both graphic scenery and 3D structures simulating the ancient roundhouses settlers would have resided in. Additional AV was incorporated to truly immerse the visitor in the landscape.
