Royal Armouries – Preserving a Legacy of Arms and Armour

The Royal Armouries, the UK’s national museum of arms and armour, is one of the world’s most prestigious institutions of its kind. With origins dating back to the Middle Ages, its 75,000-item collection is displayed across three iconic sites: the Tower of London, a purpose-built museum in Leeds and Fort Nelson near Portsmouth.

PLB was selected to support the Royal Armouries’ ongoing maintenance programme, designing, producing and installing gallery labels and graphics across all three locations. This work ensures that displays remain accurate, legible, and aligned with the museum’s brand standards.

A cohesive visitor experience

Key contributions include:

  • Creating replacement labels and panels, both internal and external.
  • Producing artwork and new graphic displays, including 2D and 3D objects, to maintain visual consistency across sites and exhibitions.

Our collaborative approach helps the Royal Armouries preserve its world-renowned collection while providing a high-quality, cohesive experience for visitors.
