Vikings Revealed – a challenging interpretive collaboration

PLB were chosen as interpretive designers for The Workhaus for this challenging interpretative project working directly with the client team. The objective of the new designs allows visitors to see the how the forensic investigation and processes were used to identify the internationally important finds from the Viking cemetery at Cumwhitton.

Six Viking Graves

The exhibition is designed with a main focus around six interactive grave areas displaying the ‘finds’, commissioned handling items and specialist replicas, positioned in the exact spot in which they were found within the graves. Each of the fragile original items were also presented in conservation grade cases to complement burial area. The hands-on interactive area, to engage family audiences, includes a video microscope with replica slide samples of materials found within the graves.
